Date: 5th & 6th October, 2015
Location: Kotare Village, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
Tutor: Kay Baxter
A 2 day long workshop covering the basics of growing Nutritionally Dense Food, with an emphasis on making high quality compost.
There is a very strong relationship between human health and what we eat. Almost all disease can be linked to cellular malnutrition of some sort, and in order to grow healthy humans, we must eat nourishing, nutrient dense food. Understanding what it means to grow and eat Nutrient Dense food (and not just organic food, – there can be a big difference), is essential for maintaining our health and the health of future generations. Kay Baxter has spent her life learning from the garden, and in the last three years has focused her research to understand what nutrient density is, and how to grow it in a home garden situation. In this one day workshop, with both theory and practical components, you will learn how to produce nutrient dense food from your home garden, using a variety of techniques. Practical solutions are discussed for common problems and New Zealand conditions, and you’ll learn techniques to achieve immediate results using sustainable products, as well as longer term solutions where you can work to solve the problems yourself, for long term sustainability.
We strongly recommend that students attending this course also attend the BioIntensive workshop – which this 1 day course builds upon.
Course fee includes a copy of the Koanga Institute Booklet Growing Nutrient Dense Food.
Course Notes: For one day courses morning and afternoon tea are provided and we ask that you bring your own lunch.
